Reel Review: Champagne Problems Will Change Your Priorities This Holiday Season
Netflix is taking us to Paris this Christmas with an all new holiday rom-com Champagne Problems!
The film stars Minka Kelly as Sydney, a passionate exec, who is hired to acquire a champagne brand and is flown to Paris in order to seal the deal. During her first night in the city, sparks fly when Sydney meets Henri (Tom Wozniczka), a driven and charismatic local. Sydney soon finds the champagne brand she was hired to buy out belongs to none other than Henri’s father, and she is forced to choose between love and work.
After drowning herself in work, Sydney learns that business is not everything here in Paris. Creating true friendships with the other competing execs, Sydney finds that the holidays are about spending it with the people you love.
Kelly embodies a strong woman who carries herself with grace. She absolutely shines in Sydney’s character and delivers emotionally heartfelt scenes as well as some comedic banter with Wozniczka’s character. Together, Kelly and Wozniczka depict a beautiful love-at-first-sight couple!
The competing champagne execs also play a crucial part in Sydney and Henri’s story. Each character is unique and by the end of the film, they start to feel like a real family. Flula Borg, Astrid Whettnal, and Sean Amsung deliver on comedic lines and heartfelt moments. Ultimately, these characters become Sydney’s truest and closest friends.
Champagne Problems, a clever wordplay, sends the message that no matter what struggles you are facing, having a good group of people to stand beside you makes life a little easier. Champagne Problems quickly became a feel good movie that is sure to brighten up your holiday season!
