Book Adaptations You Have to Read this Coming Fall

Right now, it seems so many stories are being translated from books to the big screen; and what better time than Fall?! In honor of the Fall season arriving soon, we are bringing you five adaptations to read before seeing the film:

Regretting You

Regretting You, written by Colleen Hoover, tells the story of the strained mother and daughter relationship between Clara and Morgan. After the sudden loss of Morgan’s husband, and Clara’s father, the two embark on a journey of grief and betrayal. The film is set to star Mckenna Grace, Mason Thames, Allison Williams, and Dave Franco to tell the story. The film will be released this October in theaters!

The Housemaid

The Housemaid (written by Freida McFadden) follows Millie, an ex-convict, now with a new job being a live-in housemaid for the wealthy Winchester family. As Millie spends more time in the house, she uncovers dark secrets about the family and learns more about their unsettling dynamics. The film includes a star studded cast including Sydney Sweeny and Amanda Seyfried and is set to release this December!

I Know What You Did Last Summer

I Know What You Did Last Summer by Lois Duncan is a young adult thriller told from the perspectives of four teenagers, all involved in a fatal hit-and-run that results in a death. Vowing to stay silent, the group returns the following year only to find out that someone already knows about their secret. The film stars Madelyn Cline alongside Jennifer Love Hewitt and Chase Sui Wonders and gives off the perfect eerie vibe to watch this Halloween!

Frankenstein

Another Halloween classic, Frankenstein, is being revived (yet again) and this time will star Jacob Elordi to play the iconic monster. Based on the original story from Mary Shelley, the new film puts a unique take on the original story by centering the film as a gothic melodrama rather than pure horror. Though, brushing up on the original novel is not a bad idea before seeing the new adaptation in theaters this October!

Wuthering Heights

Yet another classic piece of literature, Wuthering Heights, will be released on the big screen! Cast as our romantic leads in the new adaptation is none other than Jacob Elordi and Margo Robbie as Heathcliff and Catherine. Emily Bronte’s classic romance will be retold in a new and improved gothic way and hit theaters in early 2026!

The Long Walk

Based on the sci-fi novel by Stephen King, The Long Walk tells the story of a group of teens entered in a continuous contest where they must walk at a certain distant or face getting killed. The film is set in a dystopian world and stars Cooper Hoffman.

The Running Man

Another new Stephen King story is hitting the big screen! Starring Glen Powell, the film will follow Ben (Powell) in his attempt to survive a deadly game show known as The Running Man. The film releases November 14.

I Wish You All the Best

I Wish You All the Best follows Ben, who identifies as nonbinary and comes out to their parents, who kick him out on his own. After enrolling in a new school, Ben begins to lean on his art teach for support while finding love with one of their classmates. The film stars Corey Fogelmanis, Cole Sprouse, and Alexandra Daddario. I Wish You All the Best releases November 7.

The Woman in Cabin 10

Adapted from Ruth Ware’s novel of the same name, The Woman in Cabin 10 takes place on a yacht, in which one particular journalist sees a passenger go overboard. Meanwhile, everyone on board acts strange and secretive. Now it is up to her to solve the truth. Starring Keira Knightley, the film comes out October 10 of this year!

Mandi Lucille

Mandi Lucille is an english/journalism major and an aspiring entertainment journalist! She has a deep rooted passion for social media and loves to write about all things books, film, and pop culture. When she isn’t reading or binge-watching a show, you can find her at any concert along the East Coast!
