Reel Review: Maintenance Required is the Newest Rom Com for Motorheads
What happens when two totally attractive and car-obsessed people come face to face with one another? Romance gets kicked into high gear!
Maintenance Required is Prime Video’s newest rom-com starring Madelaine Petsch as Charlie, a struggling mechanic juggling to keep up with her autobody shop. Spending most of her days in a garage, Charlie’s love life is paying the price. That is until the handsome and mysterious Beau (Jacob Scipio) moves to town and completely changes her life.
Beau works for a flashy corporate competitor who threatens the fate of Charlie's independent-owned shop. And while Charlie is fierce and headstrong, that only pulls Beau in more. Now, he finds himself more and more drawn to her and away from his corporate money-hungry job.
Petsch and Scipio give us a ton of cute moments and funny banter throughout the film, including the enemies to lovers trope we know and love. The film also delivered a You’ve Got Mail type of cliche, but tells the story in a new and refreshing way. The film overall felt like a factory reset that the rom-com genre needed!
The side characters in the film were equally as important and had some really interesting fun of their own! Izzy (Madison Bailey) and Kam (Katy M. O’Brian), are Charlie’s best friends and loyal supporters who become such a fun part of the story. Beau also has a friend, Jordan, who is played by the hilarious comedian Matteo Lane and steals the show in every scene he is in. Everyone in the cast made these characters feel like a true authentic friend group!
Maintenance Required is fun, light-hearted, and comedic in all the best ways and should definitely be your next watch! Maintenance Required is available on Prime Video now!
