What, like it’s hard? Months before its season one release, Reese Witherspoon announced that Elle is already gearing up for season two at Prime Video. The series will follow a young Elle Woods (Lexi Minetree) in high school as she navigates life and becomes the iconic girlboss fans know and love. Up-and-coming actress Minetree will play Elle Woods, and is a spitting image of Witherspoon.
The series will premiere on July 1, and it’s the 25th anniversary year of the film’s release. Witherspoon said, “Twenty-five years after the world met Elle Woods for the first time, it’s a dream come true to share the story of how she became the unstoppable force we all fell in love with.” This story is in very good hands, with Witherspoon as an executive producer and her production company, Hello Sunshine, developing the series. The Academy Award-winning actress noted, “I think our series’ themes of kindness, authenticity, and believing in yourself will resonate deeply with fans of the original films and new audiences alike. Working with our incredible Hello Sunshine team, Amazon, and our visionary writers and directors to bring Elle’s high school journey to life has been a tremendous joy. I can’t wait to share Season One with the world and start rolling cameras on Season Two!”
We absolutely cannot wait for this series to premiere! Seriously, what are we supposed to do until July? Invest in a completely pink wardrobe? Adopt a chihuahua? Get dumped by our horrible boyfriend, then completely upstage him in law school? Well, we’ll start with rewatching the beloved film first.
Make sure to catch the premiere of Elle on Prime Video on July 1 and stay tuned for more coverage of the show from us!
