Songs We’re Yearning To Hear In Bridgerton Season Four

Dearest readers, it’s time! Certified playboy turned loverboy, Benedict Bridgerton (Luke Thompson), is finally leading a Bridgerton season. Is it dramatic to say I’ve prayed for times like these? With mere days until we reunite with our favorite British family, I’ve compiled a list of the ultimate wishlist of songs to be in Bridgerton season four. TikTok editors, please take notes.
“Enchanted” by Taylor Swift
Fans have been begging Shondaland to add the fantastical Taylor Swift song, “Enchanted”, to Benedict’s season. The song emulates a fairytale meet-cute full of yearning and desire. Benedict’s season leans into the Cinderella motif as he meets Sophie (Yerin Ha) at a ball where she’s in full disguise. This song would be the perfect song to play as they meet, and Sophie leaves before Benedict can get her name. I have chills just thinking about it! The only question is, will the show answer our request?

“Man I Need” by Olivia Dean
Thompson himself even told the press he would love some Olivia Dean in the show! Perhaps he was hinting at the possibility? Dean’s latest album, The Art of Loving, has skyrocketed the singer to new heights, and we think her romantic, sultry songs would thrive in the world of Bridgerton. In Sophie and Benedict’s case, “Man I Need” fits their story. Both are searching for a partner who loves and accepts them. This song would be perfect for an upbeat ball.

“The Subway” by Chappell Roan
Benedict spends time this season looking for the Lady in Silver who stole his heart at the masquerade ball. Chappell Roan’s song “The Subway” is about lost love and the inability to escape its memory. Just imagine a scene of Benedict painting the mysterious Lady in Silver with an orchestral version of the lyrics “She’s got a way / She got away” playing over it. I have chills.

“Some Protector” by Role Model
Pop music’s favorite yearning man needs to be in Bridgerton. Role Model’s latest album, Kansas Anymore, is an exploration of love in all its stages. One of the most beloved songs on the album, “Some Protector,” encapsulates yearning, desire, and unfinished love to its core. I’m certain an orchestral version of “Am I guilty? Am I sorry? Do I miss you at the party?” would absolutely break me. However, I need to hear it as Benedict desperately searches for Sophie after she’s run away from the ball.

“We Can’t Be Friends (Wait for Your Love)” by Ariana Grande
This season will explore class differences in the Regency era. Sophie is a maid, and her introduction to the world will give audience members a look into how the house staff lives versus the members of the Ton. Sophie’s status and Benedict’s status may play into their love story, maybe even push them apart at first. Ariana Grande’s “We Can’t Be Friends (Wait for Your Love)” could represent the obstacles Benedict faces when society expects him to marry within the Ton while he’s in love with Sophie. “We can’t be friends. But I’d like to pretend,” captures their desire to be together despite societal expectations, and I am fearful that an orchestral version of this song will make me sob uncontrollably.

“That’s So True” by Gracie Abrams
Sophie’s life leans into the Cinderella theme, marked by her father’s passing and her work as a maid. With a cruel stepmother and a desire to live a life she loves, “That’s So True” by Gracie Abrams could represent Sophie’s grit and determination to escape her old life and run towards love. The bridge of this song is viral on TikTok, with fan edits circulating of characters’ hardest moments in life set to it. Sophie’s grief and family ties fit the energy of Abram’s song so well that I am praying TikTok editors get to work on those edits!

“Manchild” by Sabrina Carpenter
As much as I absolutely adore Benedict Bridgerton, he’s a bit of a manchild from time to time. Eloise (Claudia Jessie) and Penelope (Nicola Coughlan) even call him a rake in the season four trailer! Benedict is a playboy hellbent on not choosing a partner, which is why Sabrina Carpenter’s “Manchild” fits him so well. This song playing over a scene of Benedict being a man about town would be hilariously on the nose for the character.

“Guilty as Sin?” by Taylor Swift
Benedict is so The Tortured Poets Department coded, it’s not even funny. As a tortured artist finding his way in the world, it seems only necessary to include a song from this album in his season. “Guilty as Sin” by Taylor Swift would be a beautiful song for Benedict and Sophie. The yearning. The desire. I can picture it perfectly. Let’s be real, “If long suffering propriety is what they want from me, they don’t know how you’ve haunted me so stunningly,” sounds like a gorgeous declaration of love a Bridgerton man would say.

“Close to You” by Gracie Abrams
Sophie is plagued by the secret of being the Lady in Silver as Benedict searches for her. It will be interesting to see her interact with Benedict as she hides the fact that she’s the woman he’s been searching for. “Close to You” by Gracie Abrams represents Sophie’s desire to be with Benedict, as well as her internal struggle to reveal that she’s the Lady in Silver. The line “I burn for you, and you don’t even know my name,” fits Sophie’s secret as she’s around the Bridgerton family. Plus, the line “I burn for you,” is a fun callback to season one’s famous declaration of love between Daphne (Phoebe Dynevor) and Simon (Regé-Jean Page).

“Somebody to Love” by Queen
Benedict is the most desired man amongst the ladies of the Ton, yet he refuses to settle down. Trailers have shown Benedict to have all female eyes on him at the masquerade ball, much to his dismay. “Somebody to Love” by Queen would be an epic song to play over Benedict’s desperation to flee from the eligible ladies only to find his true love. Another film that borrows from the Cinderella story, Ella Enchanted, used this song, so why not Bridgerton, too!

“Young and Beautiful” by Lana Del Rey
Lana Del Rey’s “Young and Beautiful” is a dreamy ballad born to be in Bridgerton. This song fits Sophie’s fear that Benedict won’t love her when he learns her true identity. Imagine this beautiful song playing as Sophie tries to hold on to the Lady in Silver, but also wishes to tell Benedict the truth. An orchestral version of this song would leave the world absolutely swooning.
