Reel News: Glinda And Elphaba Look Magical In New Wicked: For Good Posters

I couldn’t be happier! Simply, couldn’t be happier! Fans were treated to a thrilling—or, as Galinda would say, thrillifying— first look video of the making of Wicked: For Good, and two gorgeous new character posters for Glinda and Elphaba. Let’s break down everything we noticed in the stunning posters.

Do my eyes deceive me, or is this the “Thank Goodness” dress? In the stage production, after the intermission, fans are propelled back into Oz where Glinda has been inducted into Ozian government as Glinda the Good Witch, newly engaged to Fiyero. She sings a chilling ballad where audiences see her inner struggle with what she’s expected to be versus what she wants to be. While several outfits for Glinda have been previously released in trailers, none of them scream the iconic “Thank Goodness” ballad more than this one! I also love the detail of it looking like a tulip, like the tulip field featured in the first film.

This dress perfectly pays homage to the stage production’s costume, but with a glittering splash of Glinda’s beautiful pink shining through. Also, while this is closer to a seafoam green rather than emerald green, I can’t help but hope Glinda is wearing pink and green as a subtle nod to her long-lost best friend, Elphaba. I’m anxiously counting down the days until we finally get to hear Ariana Grande sing “Thank Goodness”, and I can promise all our readers, I’ll be sobbing.

Fans were treated to Cynthia Erivo singing a part of “No Good Deed” in the first look video, and it sent chills down my spine! I cannot wait until the day Erivo belts out the powerful song, but for now, I’ll obsess over how good she looks in this new poster! Fans have previously gotten a look at Erivo in her iconic Wicked Witch look, but this poster showcases a different costume. Elphaba is cloaked in a hooded, sheer robe that sways in the wind. While I don’t remember this look from the play, I’m obsessed. One thing I love about this outfit is that Elphaba isn’t hiding her green skin. Much of her costumes conceal her, except for her face, but this cloak isn’t hiding her. Its sheer fabric lets her green shine through, which I think is intentional from the costume designer, Paul Tazewell. Maybe this is a subtle nod that Elphaba is through hiding and instead embracing her differences as she fights the Wizard and his prejudices. She’s truly defying gravity, and I’ll be cheering her on every second.

The Witches of Oz look absolutely gorgeous in these new character posters, which only amplifies our excitement for the final installment of this beautiful story. Be sure to catch Wicked: For Good when it flies into theaters on November 21.
