Reel Review: Wednesday Season 2 Gives New Twists to the Same Characters

We are finally back in the Tim Burton twisted universe with Season 2 of Wednesday, only this time our favorite ominous girl is about to face a whole new world mysteries!

Picking up where we left off in our town of Nevermore, Wednesday is still grappling with her newfound psychic ability. But in order to find the answers she needs, she must first confront the past to discover a darker truth behind Willow Hill. Adding into play a new and mysterious stalker, Wednesday must rely on the only few she can trust; Enid, herself, and the rest of the Addams family.

Season 2 of Wednesday unravels new mysteries while welcoming back the fan favorite cast, including Jenna Ortega as our brilliant Wednesday Addams. Ortega feels almost effortless in this role by now and gives us more chilling performances this season. And with a newfound passion for solving crimes, Wednesday discovers that her psychic powers may come in handy in solving yet another mystery.

Here to help Wednesday with the dangerous journey is none other than her werewolf roomie and friend, Enid. This season Emma Myer’s character seems to have a new found confidence within herself, but she is not the only one. Wednesday’s not so little brother Pugsley (Isaac Ordonez) attends his freshman year at Nevermore and discovers his own electrokinetic abilities. It seems this season the characters we know and love continue to grow and discover themselves and their relationships.

Season 1 of Wednesday first premiered on Netflix back in 2022 and quickly became a hit to the public. With a talented cast and a captivatingly dark plot, the show took full advantage of its well deserved success with their second season. However, more and more mixed reactions arose with the release of the Season 2.

While Season 2 introduces new characters and a refreshing storyline, the pace of the show felt a little busy. There is so much information to keep up with in a little amount of time. With lots of story to follow, this season only elevates everything; which in some moments made the watch a bit difficult! Overall, the first season still takes the cake for us, but there is still hope for redemption with Season 2 Part 2 when it releases this September!

Wednesday Season 2 Part I is now available to stream on Netflix.
